Sarah Black, MSW, LCSW

Kind Paws strives to create a warm and accepting atmosphere for kids and teens to grow. Sarah has been a mental health therapist working with kids and teens since 2017. She began providing animal-assisted therapy in 2020 and found it added an extra layer of comfort, humor, and fun that enhances the sometimes challenging work of therapy. Along with animal-assisted therapy, Kind Paws offers a focus on mindfulness which helps reduce anxiety, increases stress management, and builds insight. Mindfulness also assists with making choices as opposed to just reacting to situations. Kind Paws can also provide trauma therapy through the EMDR model. Currently, Kind Paws only provides individual therapy but parents and caregivers can be an active part of the process too. Sarah’s style is engaging, individualized, and playful.

We provide a place for young people to share their feelings and explore healthy ways of being. Possible treatments can include EMDR, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. Generally, Kind Paws works with children from 3rd grade to emerging adults.
